The link between stress and social isolation

Here are two interesting articles (links below) which speak about the chronic rates of stress and isolation in America. I believe that it's not a stretch to suggest that stress and isolation are interrelated.
Scientist and philosopher Blaise Pascal commented that if a man still has five close friends when he is thirty, he is richer than a king.
The article on isolation has some great statistics illustrating how misconceptions about therapy (especially trauma therapy) prevent people from seeking therapy.
